Nature Walk Collection in Silver

What’s The Story?

From afar, we see the entirety of the tree. But get closer and marvel at the intricate shape and the vein structure that delivers nutrients throughout the leaf. Wherever I roam, I’m drawn to these tiny details. I’m absolutely delighted when I find a fabulous leaf to add to my collection. To this end, I carry molding compound, so I’m ready to expand
my selection of leaf textures.

Materials and Process

My design material is silver metal clay, which is pliable and works like clay, then fires to solid silver in my kiln. This material is ideal for capturing the real leaf textures that are featured in the Nature Walk Collection. Metal clay can also be sculpted and carved, techniques I use in my birdhouse pieces. These original designs are cast in Argentium
sterling silver, which is a tarnish resistant sterling alloy. Each piece is hand-finished in my studio. The colors in the Nature Walk Collection are achieved using my own special patina recipe to dip the metal and create a shimmering range of colors. Finally, I polish each piece by hand to bring back the shiny silver finish, leaving the colorful patina in the relief areas. All of the chains, earwires and other findings in the Nature Walk Collection are sterling silver.
